March 5 Saturday

CC * 42 * MD * 10:30 AM * Poolesville HS (POO) * 40°/50%
Poolesville Early Spring Loop. A nice and scenic ride around Poolesville. We'll avoid most of the steeper hills as well as MD 28. No go in rain, sleet and snow or on icy roads.
Peter Gruber [pmgruber@comcast.net] Cell on day of ride: 202/262-1982.

March 6 Sunday

CC * 45/40/30 * MD * 11 AM * Sherwood ES (SES) * 38°
Horsey Hills.
All rides from SES are gonna be somewhat hilly. That will keep us warm. The routes are online at http://goldray.com/bikerides. If the weather is warm, in the 50's, we'll do the longer route with a rest stop; if not we'll have the shorter route but probably with no stop. In any case, we recklessly invite one and all to our nearby house after the ride so bring hot tub garb for an indescribably delightful dip w/hot chocolate served. Cell for day of ride: 202/997-2378.

CC * 24/35 * MD * 10 AM * Poolesville HS (POO)

March 13 Sunday

CC * 36/41 * MD * 10:00 AM * Bollman Bridge ES (BOL) * 35°
Tour de Lakes of Howard.
Hilly, especially the 41, very scenic. We will start near Old Savage Mill at Bollman Bridge Elementary school, we use a little bit of a trail to go up to and around Lake Elkhorn, from there we'll skirt Lake Kitamaqundi, and then on to Centennial Lake (Option to go around). After Centennial the 41 mile loop will visit Brighton Dam. Both routes will then go by Rocky Gorge and finally back to the school. Some opportunities for rest stops, but best to bring some snacks. No go if raining, call if weather is doubtful. [Directions to start: Take MD 32 to US 1 South. Turn right at Howard St (first traffic signal after MD 32) and follow as it turns into Baltimore St., Turn right onto Savage-Guilford Rd. School will be just before the stop sign. MAPQUEST use 8200 Savage Guilford Rd; 20794.]
