December 6 Saturday

CC * 44ish * MD * 10 AM * Monocacy MS (MMS) * 44 degrees
Rita's Birthday Ride (aka Three Covered Bridges). Great scenery, not too hilly, historic bridges. Not a bad way to spend one's twilight years. Leader will ride on the swift side of CC (known as B/CC in Virginia). And if someone steps [or pedals] forward, we'll also have a sweep. One rest stop. If weather is nice, ride leader will picnic parkside afterwards. All welcome to join. Please call if weather seems iffy. Rita Zeidner

December 7 Sunday

CC * 15/30 * MD * 1:00 PM * Capital Crescent Trail (CCT) 40° DRY
Sunday Roll on Capital Crescent. If the weather is mild we will make our way to National Airport or cut it short at Georgetown. We will warm up at a local restaurant after the ride. No go in rain or wet roads. Larry Bouterie yatnola@yahoo.com cell 301-346-1243 on day of ride.

December 13 Saturday

CC * 40 * MD * 10 AM * Sherwood ES (SES) 38°
We are still exploring our new surroundings. Hopefully by now we'll have some different routes for this hopefully crisp but 65 degree fall day (well if it was over 80 in November!). Any ride up here is somewhat hilly but we'll try to keep it reasonable. Maybe even the route will be online at http://goldray.com/bikerides by now but maybe not. In any case bring hot tub garb for an after ride dip w/hot chocolate. Harold Goldstein and Janet Young 301-854-0388 mdbiker@goldray.com, cell for day of ride 202-997-2378

December 14 Sunday

C/CC * 18 * MD * 9:30 AM * Arnold, MD
Broadneck Peninsula. View the Naval Academy from across the Severn on this scenic loop with mix of flat and rolling stretches along College Parkway, the B&A Trail and St. Margaret's Road in Anne Arundel County. Yes, there are some hills near the Bay! Meet at City Dock Coffee in the Bay Hills Shopping Center at intersection of Bay Dale Drive (exit 28 off Rt. 50) and College Parkway. Join a post-ride gathering at the leaders' home nearby for refreshments. Plenty of time to visit historic Annapolis to shop or sightsee on the way home. NO GO if snow or ice on roads. Lois Findlay [lfindlay@erols.com] and Al Homans [ahomans@erols.com] 410/349-3531.

December 20 Saturday

ALL * 25 * DC * 10 AM *Pierce Mill (in Rock Creek Park at the corner of Park Road/Tilden & Rock Creek Parkway; meet at the north parking lot)
Beach to Creek.  A nice in-town ride with an emphasis on natural scenery.  We’ll ride up Beach Drive, through some nice neighborhoods with some long hills, and down Sligo Creek Parkway. This ride invites ALL pace levels, in the hope that everyone will find someone to ride with.  The ride leader’s pace is C or CC; cue sheets, maps, and a growing cadre of regulars will help those who are faster or slower.  There will be no sweep. We’ll stop at the Takoma Park Co-Op for a quick bite.  Barbara McCann 202/234-2059.

December 21 Sunday

CC * 35 * 11 AM * Riley's Lock (RIL) * 35°/40%
Last Ride Before Christmas!  This is it, the last CC ride in MD before Christmas.  We shall go from Riley's Lock to seek Santa's shop (store?) in Dickerson.  Let us hope the snow will wait till Christmas. Pat Persson, bizilady2000@yahoo.com 301/675-9343.

December 28 Sunday

CC * 43 * MD * 10:30 AM * Laytons Village SC (LAV) * 35°/30%
Looking for Reindeer.  Hopefully Dan Stanton will join us on this ride which he put together a few years ago.  We have all seen Santa on Christmas, now we look for the reindeer!  The ride is in reindeer country (reindeer like moderately hilly terrain.)  Last time we looked we found many other hoofed animals, but this time we will try to find the real thing.  Come help me find some reindeer!  There will be shorter rides for those who find the reindeer early.  Fawzi Emad, femad@comcast.net 301/977-3922.
